Success! We have lift off! The blog is now available at https://blog.skny.uk. Plex is setup for internet access so that I can listen to my own music in the car. Awesome! My basic two services are now self-hosted.
After struggling quite a bit with the NGINX Proxy Manager and WordPress redirection settings, I finally made it work by simply getting rid of the non standard SSL port and used port forwarding on the EE router to route the default SSL port on to the internal wiring. This way I can no longer access my EE router interface via SSL but I don’t care. I know none of this makes sense but this is not a purely technical blog and I’m just here writing stuff down for my own sake.
Also managed to spin up a Ubuntu Desktop VM on the same Proxmox server for testing the ‘arr’ stack. I have no experience in either of those and hence wanted a platform where I know I can see the VPN connection is successful before even touching any of the ‘arr’ apps stack.
On another note, I managed to get a fantastic deal on a Dell Xeon tower server for just £75! It is a 6 core, 64 GB machine with 240 GB SSD and an additional 1 TB hard drive. Phase two begins when I move my initial setup on to the new server and start prepping drives and such for the cloud storage service.
